Smplayer and window title bar

Dale-46
Howdy,

On rare occasions, I want to see what video file name I'm watching and
it isn't showing on the title bar of the window.  In full screen mode,
nothing shows up as I expect.  When I switch to non-full screen mode,
usually the file name shows up in the window title bar but at times, it
is something else.  Sometimes it is just random characters.  Sometimes
there is some other sort of name there.  I've searched through both
Smplayer preferences and the windows settings and can't find where that
is set.  I'd like to set it to ALWAYS show the file name instead of
something else. Does anyone know where else to look for that setting?

The reason I need this, if I'm playing a long playlist and a video is
defective, I want to know which one needs fixing.  To do that, I need
the file name since that contains the info I need to go find a better
copy.  No file name, hard to figure out.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

Dale

Press Shift-I while the video is playing, it works with smplayer, mplayer
and mpv, in fullscreen mode too.

Sort of works.  Thing is, the file names are a bit to long, even the one
I'm playing at the moment.  It helps and may be enough most of the
time.  Still, I'd like it in the window title bar, it always shows the
whole thing there.  It's a option tho.  ;-)

BTW, I'm using KDE.  I'm not sure if this is a Smplayer setting or a KDE
setting. I've checked both but can't find what I'm looking for.  Heck,
I'd edit a config file to get it working right.

Thanks.

In the preferences, in the "Advanced" section, there's a checkbox at the
bottom that says "Show tag info in window title." What happens if you
disable it? Stop the video and play it again after changing that option.

That was checked.  That just may be it.  I'll leave it unchecked and see
if it happens again.  I have a few videos to check later.  I'm pretty
sure one of three or four videos is the broken one.  As I play them,
I'll check that to see if it shows that random character thing or the
file name.

Thanks much.  I had, have, no idea what it was/is but when I put my
mouse over it, it sounds like the setting I was looking for.  It
mentions replacing the name.

"Tags" is the term for embedded information in media files. Like title,
artist, etc. It's usually nice to see the actual title of the media
instead of the filename, but if the title tag contains garbage, then
garbage is what's going to be shown :-P
